These guys practically saved British indie pop from oblivion at the beginning of the 21st century. After appropriating a musical heritage practically left to the wastelands since the beginning of the 80s (and, in particularly, the post-punk movement), these four (almost) Scottish dandy-a-likes brazenly went on to create songs with a hint of Dadaism that are contagiously euphoric, for a rock (never-tiring “Take Me Out”) meets electro match (“Feel The Love Go” and “Always Ascending”, produced by Frenchman Philippe Zdar). Five albums later, musical projects a plenty (like their supergroup with the legendary Sparks) and a change of line-up, Franz Ferdinand still ooze a certain crazy class while managing to do what others believed impossible: make girls – and boys – dance.
