Morcheeba’s story is anything but a long quiet river…. The band was founded in 1995 by singer Skye Edwards and the brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey, and on their first foray into music, the English group pulled off a master stroke. The trio hit the jackpot with the release of their debut single “Trigger Hippie”, going on to become one of the leaders of the trip-hop movement, alongside figureheads such as Massive Attack and Portishead. These days, the band is made up of Ross and Skye, and Morcheeba have just released a new album called “Blaze Away” which features artists such as Benjamin Biolay. Thanks to a heady cocktail of soul, rhythm’n’blues and hip-hop (with a few hints of electro) along with Skye Edwards’ beautifully warm vocals for the added bonus, this duo continues to create a range of intense and unusual emotions.
