He’s charismatic, elusive and implements humour with surgical precision. Belgian Roméo Elvis has rapidly made a name for himself thanks to his two first names. Having gotten into rap at a young age (his favourites include MC Solaar and IAM on the French side of things, Guru and Gang Starr for all things American), this 25-year-old artist is a shooting star on the 21st-century hip-hop scene. His powerful deep voice and an effortlessly cool flow sit atop beats from his partner in crime Le Motel. They conjure up a world that draws from electro and jazz to suit his mood, as he sings of everyday life and his problems all with a disarming sincerity. Music is a family affair for Roméo Elvis, as he’ll be following in the footsteps of his younger sister Angèle, who graced the Europavox stage last year. In 2019, he’ll be sharing songs from his eagerly-awaited new album with his legendary cheekiness in tow.
