France / Electro Pop
Since the year 2000 and the release of his first album, where he openly confessed “L’Incroyable Vérité” (“The Incredible Truth”), the man has already lived multiple lives. Thrilling lives where, in no particular order, he represented France at Eurovision, sang with Christophe and had Dita Von Teese sing, recorded film soundtracks, was fodder for the pages of the specialized press and tabloids. Striking a perfect balance between baroque pop music in French, avant-garde electro music and British-style pop, he essentially recorded songs as impressive as he is, among the most beautiful this country has ever seen, starting with “La Ritournelle”, “L’Amour Ou la Violence” or “Roche” – because, yes, just like him, we have all dreamt of “Biarritz en été” – Biarritz in the summer. While all of this and even more is told in the documentary aptly named “Many Lives” and with the release of his new studio album, Sébastien Tellier is indeed one of the major artists of the 20th century. Here and everywhere.
